Stretching over 400 kilometers from south to north, the cape west coast is a region of contrasting landscapes. The coastal regions are a myriad of lagoons and sea-side fishing villages. The Swartland and Sandveld are home to many grain- and wine farms while the Olifante Valley is rich with the herbal brew of Rooibos and wines. Inland are the mountain ranges of the Cedarberg and Groot Winterhoek Mountains. From mid-August to mid-September every year much of this land seems to disappear as it is covered in a palette of beautifully colors, as the wild flowers of the Namaqualand flower, making for some very beautiful photo opportunities.

Set your taste buds soaring while you savor a bit of snoek biltong and bokkoms - A dried fish delicacy favored by locals. Do not miss the chance of stopping over at Evita se Peron in Darling, where "Tannie Eita Bezuidenhout" (alter ego of comedian Pieter -Dirk Uys) will entertain you in her theatre restaurant. Visit Bird Island off the shores of Lambert's Bay or explore the historical mission stations at Wupperthal, Wittewater and Goedeverwcht.
