About 60 minutes east of the city of Cape Town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, is the Southermost region of Africa. The Overberg, also called the Cape Whale Coast, is home of Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa and the place where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. This particular stretch of coast line acts as a nursery for the Southern Right Whales, which visit the area from June to November every year to calve. During the annual Whale Festival in Hermanus you will get to experience the call of the world's only whale crier, while taking advantage of the best land-based whale watching site.

For outdoor enthusiast, the Overberg has been endowed with an abundance of beautiful rugged areas which make for particularly excellent hiking trail, mountain bike trails, horse trails, 4X4 routes, as well as quad-bike route. Or you can just take to the air for a different perspective on things from one of many hang gliding options.
